How to pay your council tax

Direct debit payments are protected by a guarantee.

Important information about late payment

The instalment date which is on your bill is the date by which it should have reached your council tax account, so you should make arrangements to make sure that the money arrives in time.

If you haven't spoken to us about a problem paying your bill, and you miss an instalment, we will ask you for payment.

Please see the arrears and debt recovery pages for information on the procedures that we follow if council tax is not paid on time.

Payment difficulties

If you have difficulty paying your council tax at any time, please contact us straight away. We are here to help, but once a summons has been issued the options are limited, and payment arrangements will include costs.
