Help with mental health

NHS Kent and Medway Partnership Trust offer mental health support in a crisis or emergency.

Live Well Kent offer support services for people aged 17 or over.

NHS talking therapies provide free therapy treatments.

You can access Kent and Medway Safe Havens at any time without an appointment. 

Single Point of Access is a team of people who will work out how best to help you with emotional and mental health needs.

Every Mind Matters is an NHS website with expert advice and tips to help you look after your mental health.

You can speak to someone 24/7 using Kent County Council's Release the pressure service.

CALM give support and advice to men and boys or people bereaved by suicide.

Mind is a mental health charity that offer support and advice in a crisis.

The Samaritans have a self help app as well as support and advice.

The NHS provide mental health support for children and young people.

Shout run a text message service for people with mental health problems.

Take Off are mental health support group run by those with experience of similar problems. They run groups Monday, Tuesday and Sunday in person.

East Kent Mind run a series of Wellbeing activities available both online and in person across Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay.

Revival Kent run a Mental Health Bank in which holistic therapies offer their time to improve people’s general wellbeing. All the sessions are free and can be booked online.

Help with physical wellbeing or other support

Wellbeing support for older people is available from Age UK.

The Armed Forces charity SSAFA provide support for service and ex-service personnel.

Help for Heroes also offer support for Armed Forces and military personnel.

Red Zebra's social prescribing programme supports people by linking them with local community groups and other non-clinical services.

Connect Well East Kent offer advice and support and help you find local groups and activities.

Porchlight offer a range of services to do with mental and physical wellbeing.

One You Kent has a network of lifestyle advisors working across the district to help you reduce your weight, improve physical activity and quit smoking. They regularly run pop up Health Checks and have a range of online materials available.

Help with alcohol or drug addiction

The Forward Trust offer help to people with drugs and/or alcohol. They offer one-to-one group support from premises in Canterbury. You can refer yourself to them online.

You can access support from Alcoholics Anonymous by finding a local group.

Narcotics Anonymous support is provided through local groups or online.
