UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is part of the Levelling Up agenda giving funding to local areas.

2.6 billion will be shared across the UK to invest in new projects.

The fund aims to:

  • improve people's pride in the places they live and work,
  • increase life chances by supporting local businesses, people and skills, and
  • invest in communities and spaces.

We were successful in securing £1,223,578 which must be used on local projects by 31 March 2025.  

Our project delivery plan falls within three UKSPF priorities: 

  • Community and Place
  • Supporting Local Business
  • People and Skills

Within these, we have identified a range of UKSPF projects that have been allocated funding:

Get involved with the Canterbury funded initiatives

Canterbury Pathways Project provide dedicated support and access to a range of educational courses and training for people that are unemployed and looking to get back into work or who are in work but want to upskill.

Green Skills 4 Business offer training and workshops to help measure carbon, reduce waste and minimise environmental impact.

They also offer a dedicated green construction support programme to help businesses understand opportunities available in the retrofit sector.

Canterbury Business Support training from Social Enterprise Kent have free online and in person training courses for start-up enterprises and established businesses.

Canterbury district training from SEEDL is a free online training resource for local businesses and residents looking for help with economic activity.

Canterbury District Business Growth Programme work with local businesses that have high growth.
