We are reviewing all second homes across the district to find out whether these properties will remain a second home.
This review will help us make sure the amount of council tax being charged is correct. You can help us do this by updating information about your second home. Even if your circumstances have not changed, you still need to let us know.
From 1 April 2025, properties that are occupied some of the time will be charged a 100% premium if:
- no one lives there full-time and
- it's substantially furnished.
The premium will be charged on top of the normal council tax bill for the year starting 1 April 2025 or the applicable date after that.
We've sent you a letter if you have a second home
We need you to confirm your current circumstances within 14 days of getting a letter, so you are charged the correct amount of council tax.
You need your unique council tax account reference, which you can find on the letter we've sent you.
