Apply for a residents rate permit

Sign up for a residents rate permit and pay less in certain car parks.

If you're a resident of Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable or the rural villages and you have a parking permit account, you can sign up for a residents rate permit in certain car parks.

You pay 10% less in all ANPR car parks in bands 2 and 3 and 20% less at all Park and Ride sites

This means:

  • a band 2 car park costs £2.40 per hour instead of £2.70,
  • a band 3 car park costs £1.70 per hour instead of £1.90,
  • and Park and Ride costs £3.20 per day instead of £4.

How to apply for the permit

You must apply before you park for the first time - it can take a little while to register on the system.

1. Create a parking permit account if you don't already have one. If you do have one, make sure you have a payment card registered to it. You can register a payment card if you need to.

2. Sign into your account, choose 'residents permits', click 'Next' to move to the next page and then choose 'residents parking rate' from the drop-down list.

3. Give us all the information we need - the form will ask for your vehicle registration, proof of ID and your address.

Once you're registered the discount will be applied every time you park.

Your permit will expire after 12 months and you will need to renew it to continue to get the residents rate.
