Work to online maps - Wednesday 16 April
We're doing some maintenance work to online maps today (Wednesday 16 April) which means you won't be able to use them. We're sorry for any problems this might cause.
See the conservation areas in the district and how we are working to protect them.
Our district has 97 conservation areas. These areas have special architectural or historic interest. Because of this we protect their character and appearance.
In a conservation area you will need planning permission for certain external works which would not normally need permission on other buildings. You can find out more about conservation areas from Historic England or view conservation areas on our map.
You can also view our conservation area appraisals which provide guidance on how to approach developments for each area.
Properties in Article 4 direction areas have some of their permitted development rights removed. Article 4 directions are often used to protect conservation areas. You can view areas covered by an Article 4 Direction on our map.
